Telma Hembruff - Registered Physiotherapist
As a physiotherapist, I believe taking a collaborative approach to rehabilitation results in a more effective outcome in my clients. I aim to work toward my client's goals through providing evidence-based and individualized treatment, and hope to empower my clients to take an active role in their recovery.
With a desire to travel and an interest in Global Health I have gained physiotherapy experience in a number of countries, including Canada, the USA, Spain, and the UK. In fact, I completed my Masters of Physiotherapy at Leeds Beckett University in the UK. These valuable experiences have helped me build various techniques and approaches in helping individuals meet their rehabilitative goals.
With an array of experiences, I enjoy working with various populations and conditions ranging from acute injuries to chronic orthopaedic conditions. In addition, I have past and ongoing experience working with individuals with neurological conditions such as stroke, MS, brain injury, and Parkinson's Disease.
In particular, I have a special interest in pelvic health therapy and have completed a Pelvic Health Rehabilitation course to be better equipped at treating such conditions. I have thoroughly enjoyed gaining physiotherapy and research experience with prenatal, postnatal, gynaecological and urological conditions. I strive to assist individuals improve control of their pelvic floor and core. This is done through the combination of exercises, manual therapy, and lifestyle education. In addition, I value providing a safe and open environment to talk about your concerns around this area.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good book, playing video games, and trying to convince my boyfriend that tonight should be pizza night. When feeling more energetic, you can find me at the bouldering gym, or out exploring a new neighbourhood or hike.
