Total Therapy Blog

Meet Andrew Yuen, our new Physiotherapist!

Let’s give a warm welcome to Andrew Yuen, Total Therapy’s newest physiotherapist!

How It Began

After completing his undergraduate degree in kinesiology at the University of British Columbia in 2014, Andrew, like many adventurous young graduates, set out to travel the world. However, that adventure did not go completely as planned when he suffered a motor vehicle accident in Thailand requiring 38 stitches, 10 days hospitalization, and a Grade 2 ACL/MCL tear. His own recovery and rehabilitation journey from these devastating injuries ignited his passion for helping others. His thirst for travel did not wane either, and soon after recovering from his injuries, Andrew was out backpacking through Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and Australia while simultaneously working on his Masters of Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. After six years of traveling the world, Andrew has come back to Vancouver to help individuals reach their goals and return to what they love doing.

Football (the American kind that is)

While living in Manchester, Andrew played as a wide receiver for the Manchester Titans, a football team that is part of the British American Football Association’s National League. Andrew has played some of the top teams across Europe and will be returning in the summer for one last season with the Titans. Another chance at that elusive UK National Championship. The entire Total Therapy team will be rooting for you, Andrew

Jetsetter and Adventurer

To date, Andrew has been to 38 (!) different countries. Although it’s always hard to choose a favorite, Andrew’s top countries would have to be Italy for its food and culture, Nepal for hiking and adventure, and Germany for just having a good time (especially during Oktoberfest). Some highlights from his travels include a 17 day hike to the Mount Everest base camp, Machu Picchu in the mountains of Peru, and Mount Ngauruhoe in New Zealand (the real life Mount Doom from the Lord of the Rings films!). If you are planning a trip, chances are Andrew has been there and can give you some first-hand recommendations.

For anyone looking to book in with Andrew, he is working out of our North Burnaby location on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Please give us a call at (604) 437-9355 or book online here!
